China Has Become A Major Importer of Russian Sawn Timber And Roundwood

Shamorin, chairman of the board of directors of the Segezha Group, said on the sidelines of the fifth Siva International Wood Industry Exhibition that Russia has shifted its exports from the West to Asia, mainly China.

In December 2023, Pavel Chasin, head of the Russian forestry statistics agency Roslesinforg, said that China has become a major importer of Russian sawn timber and roundwood (importing 14 million cubic meters). In 2023, Russia's sawn timber exports to China increased by 3 percent, while the supply of unprocessed wood decreased by a quarter.
